First thing I am working on are the Silver Moves In The Field.
TR 25.11 Adult Silver Moves in the Field Test
Candidates must skate the correct steps and turns on good edges showing good form, continuous flow and strength, and preciseness to their steps.
1. Eight-step mohawk sequence
2. Forward and backward free skating cross strokes
3. FO-BI three-turns in the field
4. FI-BO three-turns in the field
5. Consecutive outside and inside spirals
6. Forward and backward power change of edge pulls
One element may be retried, if necessary.
(Approximate time for test: 14 minutes)
Judging panel required: Three bronze or higher rank singles/pairs or dance judges who are certified to judge moves in the field tests.
Here's how my first practice (before a lesson on Silver Moves) went:
It's great that you have already re-grouped from the major effort of Sectionals and Nationals and gotten started on some new goals. I know there will be some changes to the Adult Gold Moves and to the Junior Moves starting in July, I don't know whether there will be changes to the Silver Moves but it would be good to ask.
ReplyDeleteI hope not .. unless they are easing up !!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely ready to move up to Silver! On your forward cross strokes, make sure you're not "hopping" during the cross in front. It needs to be a deep edge (with the "grinding" sound) and a strong push onto the next forward outside edge. And Mary is right - there are some upcoming changes to the MIF tests, so check on those with Coach Berkley.
ReplyDeleteThanks... the grind... some days I hear it... other days I don't!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're off to a really good start with your silver moves! I decided to move on after Nationals as well. I've already got my silver moves so I'm working on getting my FS test ready. I haven't heard about any proposed changes to the silver moves test, but definitely best to double check!
