Practice Practice Practice

Back on my home ice at Eagle Ice Arena today.  I had the ice nearly to myself.  I can't believe how lucky I am to be able to skate here.  It's not what one visualizes when you say "I skate PUBLIC sessions".

I captured most of my practice today and I practiced a bit harder than usual, purposely trying to get a workout, warm muscles and then try to run my program.  I cut 25 minutes down to 12 by cutting out all the "recovery" time in between trying different elements.

I ran my program twice without music in my headphones.  I attached the audio later, so the timing is off and the program runs long.

A few new things appear on this video.  A Camel Spin and a Waltz - Loop combination.

  1. The program is really coming along! You are so lucky to have ice almost to yourself. Did your pretty red dress come in? Hope it fit - have fun as you continue counting down to the competition. I usually find everything falls apart a week or so beforehand because of nerves then I pull myself together right in time. You look so smooth and graceful on the ice.

  2. Thanks. I don't feel like it's coming along. I know it's crazy having private ice (on a public session) shhhhhh. Yes my dress came in and it fits. I think eventually I will change the dress out for something more lyrical in style and a deeper red if I decide to take this program to Nationals next year (dreaming).

  3. I've always thought that you got up like 5 in the morning or something to skate freestyle sessions because the rink looks so empty. But they're public sessions?? So jealous!

    1. They are public sessions. The club ice is more crowded and more expensive. Most of the coaches won't teach on public. The disadvantage is you can't play your music. You have to wear headphones. Small price to pay for nearly private ice. That and it's FREEZING.
